County Kerry, Ireland, May 2002

I just realized that I forgot my usual Wednesday archive shot, which may not be so regular, as I just discovered that most of 2002 and 2003 seems to have vanished. Anyway, you'll find this vista along the N71 toward Moll's Gap and Ladies' View (just north of Kenmare on your maps). This was just shy of lunch on the first day of a week-long cycling trip. Despite being wet, panting, and surrounded by Canadians, it was one of the best vacations I've ever taken. [Shameless plug: The company I went travelled with was Irish Cycling Safaris and I recommend them highly.]

"despite being surrounded by Canadians".....
what's wrong....did they kick your cycling butt?

i would apologize, but i'm not sorry :P

the problem was less that the Canadians were insufferable than it was that the insufferable ones were all Canadian. one day our Irish guide said to me, "I thought you Americans were supposed to be the wankers." I denied being American. :)

I love bicycle touring. You see so much that way. I've only done self-contained ones though. Just me and my 40 lbs of gear.

looks gorgeous,
If I were there, I wouldn't be a damn Canadian whiner!
: )

I love it, too, but the idea of towing everything around with me is a bit more responsibility than I want on holiday. Here I only had to worry about getting up the hills and knowing which pint would be the one too many.

Thanks for the comments.
